The Challenge

EMPLOYMENT LAWYER IN  MID-SIZED LAW FIRM WANTS TO STAND OUT & BUILD PROFILE

There are lots of employment lawyers but how do you stand out?  That was the challenge posed by an employment lawyer at a mid-sized law firm in Toronto.

The sale of cannabis in Canada would become legal in a year and a half.

Naturally, there would be many issues and questions about the impact weed would have in the workplace.

At the time, the discussion was on the legal issues and not the employment law side of the equation.  This gave us about a year to establish my client as a subject expert and the GO-TO person.

Building Blocks

Get on as many panels in the HR space and provide commentary in articles, reach out to HR professionals and hold webinars, launch a proactive media campaign to introduce my client to reporters covering the story.

And develop a microsite attached to the company’s main website on weed in the workplace with an organic and paid Google search component.

Results

The client becomes a noted subject expert on weed in the workplace in Canada and is frequently sought out for media comment. He also becomes a consultant to provide advice and guidance to industries such as transportation, that will be affected by the legislation.

The Challenge

How a small retailer in a niche market makes a big impact.

Building Blocks

The NBA All-Stars came to Toronto.  Along with it, there was a big opportunity for a small retailer that sells limited edition and exclusive lines of sneakers to get in on the action and on the media radar.

A perfect fit!

The retailer just agreed to sell basketball superstar Dwyane Wade’s Way of Wade (WOW) NBA exclusive Sneaker line during the weekend. So, what could be better than a shoe signing and sighting with the NBA Superstar? The media was primed, our social media team did advance and day of live updates while hundreds of fans lined up at the door in the early frosty morning.

Results

Company Instagram followers grew, media coverage ranged from national coverage to top sneaker to lifestyle blog sites. The retailer’s suppliers took a renewed interest, and the brand has upped its’ brand Q.

Largest College in Canada Rebranded

Rebranding Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology. A year long public awareness campaign boosts awareness by 13%. Seneca gains the attention of business and government leaders.

Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology is the largest college in Canada with over 100,000 students. To support a campus expansion program Seneca required stronger brand recognition within the business and government sectors,  students and a higher profile within the media.

Building Blocks

A year long campaign included: re-branding the college visual identity, re-positioning Seneca to reflect a global image, extensive use of media and themed corporate events. These efforts were supported by a print and outdoor image advertising campaign designed to introduce potential suppliers and other stakeholders to the company.

Results

Awareness of Seneca was boosted by 13% in target audiences.
